EXPLANATION FOR SG UNPLUGGED

My name is Bill Simmons and I have been writing the "Sports Guy" column for ESPN for the past six years. From May '97 to June '01, I had my own Web site called "Boston Sports Guy," which was carried by Digital City Boston on AOL. I wrote three columns per week barring the occasional vacation, concentrating on Boston sports, the NBA, the NFL, baseball, sports movies, pop culture and life as a sports fan. When I moved to ESPN, those columns vanished off the internet, so I thought it might be fun to bring a few of them back to life on this blog. (I would have done this sooner if I knew how simple the technology is today. Back in the days of the BSG site, I had to add every single HTML tag myself before posting whatever I wrote. Crazy.) Over the next few months, I'm going to intermittently post some of the BSG columns here, as well as a few other things I've written over the past 16 years. This stuff needed a home.
